Hollywood smile – how to achieve a perfect smile?

A smile is an expression of your soul and your smile can be warm and beautiful even without perfect shape or color. On the other hand, modern trends dictate perfect standards.

Our dental office offers you teeth of ideal proportions and looks which can give you much sought after Hollywood smile. This is most easily achieved with ceramic veneers.

Veneers

Veneers represent a modern way of esthetic correction of the teeth within the MINIMUM INTERVENTION concept, without extensive teeth trimming. Sometimes it is even possible to entirely avoid the trimming.

Patient of choice for this procedure, that is an ideal candidate for problem solving with this treatment is: a patient without visible crowns, all teeth present in the smile zone and patients with low tooth decay risk.

Veneers are made of resin-based composite or ceramics.

Resin-based composite is a material also used to repair teeth. It is esthetically somewhat less pleasing than ceramics and has a shorter service life than ceramic veneers.

It is susceptible to color change over time and there is a greater risk of new decay, on the edge between the veneer and tooth tissue. Advantage over ceramic is that it costs less.

Ceramic veneers are esthetically more pleasing and more durable solutions. They are abricated with use of CAD CAM device (computer 3D printing) on CEREC system, enabling high precision and faster fabrication.

Level of trimming required depends on the situation at hand and each individual patient. This is why a detailed examination and communication between the patient and the doctor is an absolute prerequisite! We try our best to understand wishes of the patients and meet them half way, if this is feasible and advisable.

Appearance of different solutions can be simulated with a computer program, defining the color and shape of teeth, as well as guidelines for fabrication.

If needed, additional corrections can be made after the fabrication, until the work is ready to be fixed in the mouth.

Our practice is that the end product is fixed only when the patient has taken the look in the mirror and is completely confident that the goal is achieved and the treatment was a 100% success.

Non-metal and metal ceramic crowns

These are traditionally used to make up for a missing tooth or reconstruction of the existing tooth. One reconstructed tooth is a single crown. If two or more teeth are missing, this is a dental bridge.

Although implants are getting more and more popular as treatment for missing teeth, in daily practice they aren’t always the best option. First reason is being more expensive than ceramic bridges and that they also last longer to produce.

Bridges mean connected dental crowns relying on existing teeth in the jaw bone, on both sides. To produce a bridge, it is necessary to trim adjacent teeth, which will then serve as carriers. This implies that natural teeth on both sides of ceramic dental bridge need to be present. Bridges can be made of metal ceramic or pure ceramic.

Unlike veneers, that cover only the outer surface of the existing tooth, crowns cover all sides of the existing tooth after the reconstruction. This is especially convenient if there is a higher risk of a new decay, because we achieve maximum protection. Both types of crowns have a very natural feel (patients can’t tell the difference from their own teeth), the difference is simply in esthetic appearance – nonmetal option gives more natural look.
